Cost & Investment

Therapy fees and insurance information

Therapy is an investment of your time, energy, and money, so I want you to have a clear understanding of what working together will cost. Below you'll find my current session fees, information about insurance reimbursement, and what to expect when getting started.

Session Fees

Individual therapy sessions are 55 minutes. I work with adults seeking help with concerns such as addiction, depression, trauma, anxiety, and patterns of thinking or behavior that are making it harder to move forward.

Private Pay & Insurance

Why I work as a private-pay therapist

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly. Working this way allows me to make clinical decisions based on what I believe will be most useful for you rather than having treatment dictated by an insurance company.

If your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement for some of your therapy costs. I recommend contacting your insurance company before beginning therapy to ask about your deductible, reimbursement rate, and any requirements for submitting claims.

Superbills

If you would like to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, I can provide a superbill for your sessions. You would submit the superbill directly to your insurance provider, and they would determine whether your plan provides reimbursement and how much you are eligible to receive.

A superbill includes the information your insurance company needs to process a claim, including a diagnosis. If you have questions or concerns about this process, I'm happy to discuss them with you before providing one.

Good Faith Estimate

If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of your expected therapy costs.

I will provide an estimate based on the services we expect you to receive. Because therapy is an ongoing process and the number or frequency of sessions may change, your actual costs may differ from the original estimate.

Understanding your expected costs

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
